Unemployment is Down & So is the Number of New Jobs

March 2017 Job Report: Job Openings, Unemployment Rate, Market Trends*

Unemployment [4.5%]

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the unemployment rate dropped from 4.7% to 4.5% in March.

 

Job Openings [98,000]

Jobs openings dropped drastically to 98,000 in March (compared to the projected 180,000) from 235,000 in February, a decrease of 58% in one months time. 


 

Hire Rate [3.6%] & Quit Rate [2.0%]

Both the hire rate (3.6%) and the quit rate (2.0%) remained the same from the previous month.

Unemployment [4.7%]

According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the unemployment rate dropped to 4.7% from 4.8% in January.

Job Openings [235,000]
Job openings rose to 235,000 in February from 227,000 in January, almost a 3.5% increase in one months time.

Hire Rate [3.6%] & Quit Rate [2.0%]

Both the hire rate (3.6%) and the quit rate (2.0%) remained the same from the previous month.


 

Temporary Employment Services Market Trends:

Temporary help jobs increased by 3,100 in February from the previous month. February's data also reported a decrease in temp jobs from 14,800 in January to 6,500 in February. The temporary penetration rate, defined as temporary jobs as a percent of total employment,  decreased slightly to 2.038% in February from 2.039% in January.

It was very exciting to have  200+ individuals attend the conference to hear about how Comrise has innovated our staffing approach with our own patented RightFit technology.  The positive response we received from our presentation from potential partners, customers and consultants was overwhelming and humbling. We enjoyed learning more about our region’s latest innovations and connecting with other companies with the same passion for innovation to address today’s problems.

January 2017 Job Report: Job Openings, Unemployment Rate, Market Trends*

Unemployment [4.8%]
According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the unemployment rate rose to 4.8% from 4.7% in December.

 

Job Openings [227,000]
Job openings rose to 227,000 in January from 157,000 in December, almost a 45% increase in one months time. 

 

Hire Rate [3.6%] & Quit Rate [2.0%]
Throughout 2016 the hire rate fluctuated between 3.5% and 3.8%, ending the year at 3.6% and the quit rate fluctuated between 2.0% and 2.1%, ending the year at 2.0% 

 

 
Temporary Employment Services Market Trends:
Temporary help services employment rose in January, 0.5%, with an increase of 14,800 new jobs after facing a .52% decline in December 2016. YOY temporary help employment was up 3.3%, which is the fastest growth rate since December 2015, with monthly job increases averaging about 7,800 within the past year.

New Year, New Top Tech Jobs! : 2017 Projections Are In 

Comrise recently released the article ‘Top Careers in Technology for 2016’ based on the list by U.S News. Shortly after we published our article, U.S. News released a new list for the projected ‘10 Best Jobs in Technology of 2017’. Seeing as jobs are ranked annually based on projected number of job openings, opportunity to advance and pay scale, we wanted to compare the two lists, side-by-side, to see any major differences or up and coming jobs for 2017. We also took it a step further and created a chart to show the increase in the median salary for each job that made both the 2016 and 2017 lists, pictured below:
