Comrise Creates an Open Workspace Environment

Open Office Environment

This fall, Comrise strategically relocated its U.S. headquarters to an office in Woodbridge, New Jersey putting it within 15 minutes from Newark Liberty airport and about 30 minutes (by train) from Penn Station in midtown Manhattan. With this move, Comrise had the unique opportunity to customize and build from the ground-up a fresh, invigorating office environment that set the tone for a bold new future in this location.

Going into the design phase we wanted the look and feel for our new office to be a combination of modern, technology-focused features and an atmosphere that amplified who we are as an organization and the highly sought-after talent we represent. We know from experience through consulting other corporations that by defining the critical characteristics of how our office should function, we could greatly improve our company's outlook.

It's not a mystery that to stay competitive in today's professional landscape an organization needs to prioritize productivity, employee satisfaction and retention, and the innovation of new products and services. A well thought-out, optimized workplace can go a long way to addressing these areas.

Going beyond the logistical flows of how projects and information would course through our office, we wanted our employees to be able to effectively collaborate and help each other, problem solve without jamming up other organizational functions, or create "wasted time" waiting for emails and phone calls to address questions or concerns as they pop up. Essentially, we wanted to create a synergy between the human, technological, and logistical elements in our office. One of the many ways we are reaching this goal of better synergy is by moving many of our workspaces to an open space layout, highlighting our teams' excellent communication skills. Our goal is to remove the barriers between our employees so that they can freely interact, have the tools readily available to enhance their workflow and productivity, and overall build stronger Comrise unity.

At Comrise, one of our four guiding principles is to "be the spark," and we believe that happy, engaged employees can spark big breakthroughs not just for us, but also for our clients. Engaged employees readily bring fresh, new perspectives to problems and can foster improved decision making by reducing their susceptibility to stereotypes and confirmation bias. Most of all, happy employees will spread positive interactions, improving collaborations and communications with clients, fortifying an organization's resilience even in uncertain job markets.

In our company, we felt the best way to support employee engagement was to move away from traditional workspaces into the more modern, open shared spaces. We believe one of the best features of this design plan will not only be the communal atmosphere but the ability to fluidly react to each other's workload and ideas, free from a sense of confinement which can suppress an employee's sense of being part of a larger purpose. It's our hope that our employees will help each other, share ideas on how to improve projects and the company, and in doing so, increase our productivity without sacrificing overall happiness and satisfaction.

While our move is not a new revelation in corporate structuring, we view this transition in our office as just one of the many ways that we are "walking the walk" and backing up our long-held principals of prioritizing the "best fit" and constantly improving company culture.

We want our standards to always be elevated, and we bring that attitude to every contract we have by making hiring recommendations that go beyond just filling an opening. We want to help all of our clients improve their company's standing and industry position and help them find new and better ways to not only attract the industry's best professionals but retain them for the long-term. Our move and office redesigns will allow us to stay ahead of the curve and adapt to the industries that we are so deeply invested in.

So, if you or your company are looking for help in hiring the industry's top IT and engineering professionals and strategize ways to retain them for many years to come, Comrise can help.
